Who We Are

We provide Day Services for adults with learning disabilities.

Stepping Stones is a small independent day service founded in 1990 by Jane White, a qualified teacher, to provide learning opportunities and leisure activities for adults in the Reading area who have learning disabilities.

In 2011, to ensure Stepping Stones remained economically viable in challenging times, Jane took a full time job based in Wales. She left the established staff team, led by service manager Debbie, to continue her work in Reading.

Our Team is highly qualified, with a variety of backgrounds and specialist skills ranging from art to music, and education to residential work. All are dedicated to providing the same quality and consistent service that Jane envisaged.

2013 brought a new challenge to the service when we relocated from the base we had used for many years in Milman Road to new premises. Now based at St Agnes Church, Northumberland Avenue Reading, we provide a small, unique, person-centred service.

Stepping Stones actively contributes to each person’s review process with reports to help maintain and underpin individual progress.

We are able to provide sessions that are both fun and educational with the aim of meeting individual aspirations.
